Ann M. Logan

Denver Health Foundation honors Ann M. Logan for her work with the Reach Out and Read program at Denver Health and for her commitment to education and literacy for Colorado’s youngest children.  Ann became involved with the Reach Out and Read (ROR) pediatric early literacy program soon after its inception in Colorado in 1997.  Having worked for years as an outreach librarian for the Denver Public Library, she immediately recognized ROR’s potential to encourage early literacy development and a love of books, especially in the homes of disadvantaged families.  In a volunteer capacity Ann coordinated the ROR program at eight Denver Health community health centers until 2006, providing invaluable support and training to medical staff and volunteer readers.  In 2004, she and Dr. Steve Vogler, Denver Health Westside Family Health Center pediatrician, led the effort to create a statewide ROR coalition, which currently supports the activities of 265 ROR health care sites, serving over 93,000 children throughout Colorado.  Ms. Logan is a past board chair of ROR Colorado and also serves on the boards of directors of Reach Out and Read National Center, Clayton Early Learning and Denver School of the Arts Friends Foundation.
