SUMMARY:CDHPE Webinar: Mightier Than Measles
DESCRIPTION:“Mightier Than Measles” Webinar\n\nThursday\, August 29\, 2024 • 12:00PM- 11:00PM MT\nJoin subject matter experts from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) on August 29 from noon to 1 p.m. for a discussion about Colorado’s vaccination rates\, CDPHE’s strategic activities to increase immunization coverage\, and how you can join these efforts with your practice. \nMeasles outbreaks are surging nationally and around the world. Already this year in the United States\, there have been more than three times as many measles cases than in all of 2023. Cases have been reported in more than 27 jurisdictions\, including a large outbreak in Chicago. Approximately 85% of these cases were in people who were unvaccinated or of unknown vaccination status\, and 49% of these cases have been hospitalized. \nVaccination rates in many Colorado communities fall well below the community immunity threshold needed to protect our communities from measles. Health care providers continue to be families’ most trusted source of vaccine information\, even for families who are vaccine-hesitant or delaying vaccination.
