SUMMARY:AAP Webinar: Extreme Risk Protection Orders: What Pediatricians Need to Know
DESCRIPTION:AAP Webinar:\nExtreme Risk Protection Orders:\nWhat Pediatricians Need to Know\n\nWednesday\, April 2\,  2025\, 11:00am -12:00pm MT \nRegister here.\n \nExtreme Risk Protection Orders (ERPOs) play a crucial role in preventing potential harm by temporarily restricting access to firearms for individuals deemed to be at high risk. Health care providers are included as petitioners in several states’ ERPO laws. However\, in states where health care providers are not included as petitioners\, they still play a critical role in promoting the safety of their communities. \nJoin the AAP and Katherine Hoops\, MD\, JD\, MPH\, Associate Professor of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at Johns Hopkins Medicine\, for a webinar covering the spectrum of lethal means safety\, ERPO laws as a public health approach to preventing gun violence and suicide\, some legal nuances\, and clinicians’ roles as petitioners or triggers for petitions. This webinar will be recorded.
